Glamour and Creativity on Stage
Students of the Accademia award the Pyramid of Excellence.
Electrifying festival, glamorous clothes, spectacular direction and special guests of honor. A successful mix proposed by the Accademia Italiana that at the end of the academic year puts on a show with 250 magnificent outfits inspired by a dream, the inspirational theme of the collections. Shown were also the works of design and the video-clips done by the students in the respective courses of Design and Photography.
President of Accademia Italiana, Vincenzo Giubba, presented the traditional year-end event together with the new project Accademia Italiana for Africa recently developed in collaboration with Franca Sozzani, director of Vouge Italia in her role as UN Ambassador for Fashion 4 Development and Sudhitham Chirathivat, CEO of the group La Rinascente whose recent acquisition and intention to further invest is attracting ever more attention in the international financial market. The project will involve students designing small clothing collections that will be produced in Africa by local tailors and then sold throughout Italy in the La Rinascente stores.
In the afternoon a huge crowd at the Design exhibition inaugurated by the marketing director of Kartell, Gilberto Negrini, a company always in search of new talents in the field of interiors and furnishings. And to top off the evening, the fashion show, inaugurated by the Councilor for Culture of the Tuscany Regino, Cristina Scaletti and with the best wishes of Giulia Pirovano, director of the Italian Chamber of Fashion. During the traditional ceremony at the half-way point of the show the students of the Accademia Italiana awarded the Pyramid of Excellence to special guests Franca Sozzani, Director of Vogue Italia, Michel Adams, owner and founder of Fashion TV, Sudhitham Chirathivat, C.E.O. of Central Retailers Group, Brunello Cucinelli, fashion designer and owner of the cashmere company, Gilberto Negrini for the furnishings company Kartell for which he is commercial director, and to Guillermo Mariotto, designer for Gattinoni. From Franca Sozzani compliments and encouraging messages to the young designers to forge ahead, from Mariotto the amusing appreciation for a cloak-suitcase proposed on the catwalk. Sudhitham Chirathivat as he received the award declared: I am very honored and all of our Thai group is very happy to have a role in the Italian economy and to give support because we have faith in the future of your economy. We are enthusiastic about the Aifa project, he added, an idea of the Accademia Italiana that will be the first of many collaborations with the Italian and the Bangkok campuses. A triumph of flowers and applause from the packed audience in the theater for the grand finale with an army of students partying on the catwalk.
